School Social Worker
A school social worker (SSW) is a mental health professional who works with students, families, and school administration to help students succeed academically and socially. SSWs are trained to address a variety of issues, including mental health, behavioral concerns, and bullying. They also work to create a supportive environment for students to learn and grow.
School Counselors
School counselors play a vital role in supporting students' academic, career, and personal development. They provide individualized guidance to help students create academic plans, navigate career choices, and address personal challenges.
A school counselor's role is to help students succeed in school and in life by providing support and guidance. They help students with academic, social, and psychological challenges.
The school social worker and school counselors at WHS are fully licensed mental health professionals and can provide the following social-emotional support to students at WHS:
- Individual Support
- Group Support
- Crisis Intervention
- Connect to Local Resources
- Classroom Presentation
School counselors and school social workers do not provide ongoing therapy for children. If your child is in need of support beyond the scope of the school setting, the mental health support team at WHS can make recommendations and provide resources for local agencies and providers. If you have questions about support, please contact a member of our team. We are here to help.
Mental Health/Wellness Specialist
Our Mental Health/Wellness Specialist helps to ensure and facilitate Social Emotional Learning opportunities at WHS including: the implementation of the TRAILS Curriculum in our Healthy Living courses, as well as the oversight of our bi-monthly Social Emotional Learning AOT times, which are dedicated to strengthening student-teacher relationships and enhancing student wellbeing.
